The key to providing this exceptional service level is our team and we are currently considering candidates for the following position:

Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities

As Accounting Manager, you would be responsible for managing the general accounting and payroll function, and liaising with Northland Property Corporate Office, in our hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. You will assist with the processes and controls related to the Rooms function only function of this hotel.

  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts, review discrepancies and problematic accounts and guide staff to follow-up on such accounts
  • Ensure processing and accuracy of reports including, but not limited to, month-end closing, monthly forecast and variance, etc.
  • Ensure the correct downloading of data into timekeeping systems
  • Manage weekly submission of time and attendance data & processing of expense reports to be sent to Corporate office
  • Calculate and produce daily deposit transmittals for received cheques
  • The granting and administration of hotel credit (timely guest account reconciliation & communication, accounts receivable processing, advance deposit collection, group billing, analysis of PM accounts and attrition, other fees to be collected);
  • Responding to inquiries in a manner that both internal and external guest expectations are exceeded
  • Providing monthly reports as required; assisting with income audit; assisting with General Cashier duties; additional bookkeeping & departmental administrative duties as required.    

Qualifications:

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with strong numerical aptitude and investigative/reconciliation abilities.  Candidate must:

  • Have a Diploma in Accounting and a minimum 1-year equivalent experience in a credit / collection environment (preferably Hotel Accounts Receivable), or prior hotel reservations, front desk or administrative experience.
  • Have strong guest service, interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly, professional telephone manner
  • Have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet required deadlines
  • Be effective in anticipating and handling concerns of clients or colleagues, or any other issues that may arise with confidentiality, diplomacy and efficient problem-solving
  • Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel (OPERA/FIDELIO or similar is preferred)
